iTunes education Store downloads breaks 100 million
Apple has disclosed to the media, the download of its iTunes U web-based education store has surpassed 100 million times.
iTunes U is a sub-section of Apple’s iTunes online store, providing various subjects to download audio or video programs, mainly are from universities and research institutions around the world, total number of documents are more than 200,000. Apple said, iTunes U’s one of the most successful projects is the British Government’s Open University distance education program, providing a variety of courses across the humanities, science and technology, the users include a minimum of 15 million college students and 30000 graduate students, of which 25000 are from outside the UK .
iTunes U project was released in mid-2007 , but its origin is actually in the end of 2005 Apple and Stanford University launched a cooperative education program.
