Apple’s yearly advertising cost xceeded 500 million U.S. dollars
According to Form 10-K document which was delivered to the Securities and Exchange Commission of America, Apple in the past fiscal year of 2009 advertising budget for the first time exceeded 500 million U.S. dollars mark, reaching 501 million U.S. dollars.
Prior to the 2007 fiscal year and 2008 fiscal year, Apple spent 467 million U.S. dollars and 486 million U.S. dollars on advertising costs , which means the increase in the past two years, respectively 4% and 3%.
In fact, comparably Apple’s this advertising costs relatively small. According to “Fortune” magazine’s data, Dell spent 811 million U.S. dollars on advertising a year, Microsoft is up to 14 billion U.S. dollars.
And the ratio of advertising on Apple’s total revenuen continues to drop. In 2001, Apple spent 5% of their income on advertising, followed by continued revenue soared, but now the proportion of advertising costs only 1.37%.
Recently, a global branding report said Apple’s brand values 15.4 billion U.S. dollars, rising 12% per year, and ranks the world’s first 20-bit, while Microsoft, Intel, Dell and down 2% to 12% range. Market research firm illwardbrown after taking into account the social impact ,it put apple on the sixth.
